3 tips to protect your skin from the adverse impacts of air pollution.

Post-Diwali, once again the air quality in Delhi/NCR has dipped pretty much and all thanks to the craze of bursting firecrackers during the festival of lights. Dermatologists consider pollution to be one of the major sources of skin damage as air pollutants result in early aging of the skin. Nowadays,  smog and dirt in the air make your skin dull by clogging skin pores. Moreover, long time exposure to pollution can lead to several constant skin conditions like various allergies and eczema. UV rays also leave your skin darkened, old looking, rough, wrinkled and dry.

Here are few simple hacks shared by Dr. Lipy Gupta that may help you protect your skin from air pollution:

  1. Keep your skin clean: Keep your skin clean by using a cleansing product which suits your skin is a must. Skin experts consider cleansing to be the most essential part of keeping your skin clean as it flushes out the dirt, pollutants and excess oil that clogs the pores from the epidermis.
  2. Drink lots of water for healthy skin: Having plenty of water is an essential way of keeping your skin healthy. Water helps in cleansing the toxins out of your body and keeps your digestive system strong and makes it run smoothly. Also, your skin should be moisturized and kept hydrated.
  3. Omega 3 enhances skin protection: Skin experts say that fatty acids are extremely essential in developing lipid-based cell membranes that transport water and necessary nutrients and protect the skin from harmful effect of UV rays and pollutants. It also improves skin tone to a great extent.
